OVC Announces Funding to Support Services for Victims of Human Trafficking

The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) has announced that it is now accepting applications under the Services for Victims of Human Trafficking solicitation.

The primary goal of this program is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to assist victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000. Funding will support the provision of high-quality services that address the individual needs of trafficking victims, interagency collaboration and the enhancement of a coordinated community response to victims of human trafficking. This competitive program will award cooperative agreements, ranging from $200,000 to $500,000, for 24-month projects based on one of the following program areas:

Program Area 1: Comprehensive Services for All Victims of Human Trafficking: Award amounts between $300,000 and $500,000 will support the provision of services based on the OVC Comprehensive Service Model outlined within the solicitation. This program area ensures that a wide array of services will be made available to victims of sex trafficking and labor trafficking (including foreign nationals and U.S. citizens, males and females, adults and minors) through a coordinated community approach.

Program Area 2: Specialized Services for Victims of Human Trafficking: Award amounts between $200,000 and $400,000 will support the provision of a specific type of service for victims of human trafficking, services provided in specialized settings, or services targeting specific subgroups of trafficking victims. OVC will dedicate a portion of the Specialized Services funding to projects that focus on providing culturally relevant services to American Indian and/or Alaskan Native victims of human trafficking.

5 Reasons Why You Need A Work-At-Home Schedule

One of the attractions of working at home is the vision of freedom it invokes -- no time clock, no time sheets, and no one to account to for how you spend your time. Yes, it is an attractive proposition, but like so many attractive propositions there is a heavy downside -- you are likely wasting a lot of time.

I recall spending time every day filling out those large spreadsheets to account for the day. I now have my own spread sheet and agenda for the day and I have improved my productivity and reduced my stress immeasurably. If you don't think you need a schedule for your home business then think again -- and read on.

After a spate of relatively unproductive days when my "To Do" list seemed to grow exponentially every time I looked at it I knew something had to change, and now I'm adding more opportunities (i.e., a virtual call center, online clothing store, etc.), and more tasks like going for a morning walk (which I'm running late for as I prepare this blog).

Granted I was going through a rough patch. My home business was experiencing growing pains and taking up more than the usual time. But I'm also old enough to know there is never a perfect time in life -- you just live the one you've got. These are simply the problems I'm dealing with this year. Next year these problems will be traded in for new fresh ones.

After studying my time and chatting with some other work-at-home folks, I discovered five reasons to embrace the schedule:

1. It's too easy to waste time doing non-priority tasks
2. It's too easy to get sidetracked or distracted from your current task
3. Unscheduled work time can often overlap into your free time until you don't have any free time at all
4. Your free time can overlap into your work time until you fall behind with important projects
5. Concentrating your time and effort on highest priority projects means more gets done

I'm not the only work at home business person encompassing the schedule. I recently took part in an online forum where men and women had moved to embrace it -- and found it more freeing than restrictive. After all, you are still the one setting the schedule so you are free to schedule yourself off for a 3-hour lunch, an afternoon, or a whole day whenever you choose (in deciding, remember your bottom line).

If you find it difficult setting up your schedule and priorities for the day and week then perhaps your significant other or a friend can help you set your schedule.

An affiliate marketer is someone who earns a commission when someone they have referred to a website makes a purchase. Many people now days are turning toward the Internet to look for ways to generate income. Work at Home website owners are feeling a need to stay in touch with what they feel is what folks are looking for.

This has been done because there was a need and so people could get help sifting through the hundreds and hundreds of companies that are out there for website visitors. Time is money and many of the companies charge a modest fee for access to their database. Online paid survey databases are not free. Paid Survey database companies charge about $35 - $60 for their paid surveys directory. Again the time you save and the training you get is well worth the modest fee.

What If You Are A Beginner... Can You Make Money On The Internet?

I will answer that question right up front, I have met many people that have started making money on the Internet in a very short time. So the answer is yes you can make money on the Internet even if you are just starting. I am not saying most people starting an Internet business will make money in their first few months, but there are a few that do.

The biggest reason most beginners fail to make money on the Internet in their first year is they jump from one program to another. The second biggest problem is they are not willing to spend the small amount of money it takes to get their Internet business going, or they spend that money in the wrong place. I don't want to offend anyone, but the next reason most beginners fail to make money the first year is they are lazy, like I said I don't want to offend you, but most people are lazy, including myself (on some mornings).

What Will It Take To Help Beginners...

If you are just starting don't fall into the trap a lot of beginners fall into. Before you begin go to a search engine and do a search for a business or Internet marketing forum. Spend some time in the forum just reading and get some idea of what your interest are. Once you have made up your mind you should focus in that area and not be led into some get rich quick program. It may look good, but remember the biggest mistake you can make is jumping from one thing to another.

Are You Ready To Spend Some Money?

Ok, this is where we start spending a little money. You may think the best place to spend your money would be on some program that already has a website built for you, because you don't know how to build a website. Don't do that! You want to look for something that will teach you how to build a website, there are many to choose from, some are better that others, when you find something you like, instead of buying it, go you your forum and ask if anyone has bought that product and if they are satisfied with it.

Now that you are focused and have all the information you need to get started it's time to stop being lazy, because you will need to drive floods of targeted traffic to your website. I didn't say just any traffic, I said targeted traffic. I also said massive, that doesn't mean 50 visitors a day, that means 200 to 300 targeted visitors a day to start. Finding that amount of traffic will require working every day when you are beginning, it may get a little easier later, but starting it will take a lot of work every single day.

If you can follow the instructions in this article you should be able to make money on the Internet within a year, If you are a fast learner you may be one of the lucky ones and be making money in as little as 3 months. Stay away from the get rich quick programs and be willing to learn. Work hard, never give up and ask for help when you need it. You Can Do It!
