Spread the Word about the New Office of Head Start Transportation Group!

The Office of Head Start (OHS) created the Head Start Transportation Group to facilitate information sharing around safe bus and transportation policies and procedures. Please share this invitation with anyone in your program who may in interested in joining the group. The resources will be especially beneficial to transportation staff and program leaders.

In August 2014, many program directors and transportation managers participated in A Conversation with Acting Director Ann Linehan about Transportation Safety. OHS has answered many of the questions that were submitted during and after the webinar, including those around bus monitors, age and weight appropriate child restraints, lifetime of buses, and duration of bus routes. Review the Transportation Q&A now on the Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC).

OHS will continue to provide answers to your questions around transportation. We’ll also share strategies, tips, and promising practices. Send your questions, concerns, and helpful advice to HeadStartTransportation@hsicc.org.

What Every Home-Based Business Owner Needs to Know About Shiny Object Syndrome

One of the greatest enemies to business success is Shiny Object Syndrome.  You as an entrepreneur are probably highly creative, intuitive and optimistic by nature, and it's likely common for you to have a mind full of new ideas at any given moment.

You see opportunity where many others don't and the trouble arises when you want to bring all of the ideas to life at the same time. It may also be difficult for you to say 'no' to pursuing a new idea or opportunity when it's presented because you love 'new' and 'exciting'!

Some days you may feel you're chasing after many ideas at the same time while accomplishing no real progress on any one of them.  In order to beat Shiny Object Syndrome it's important to pick ONE idea and focus your undivided attention on it.  Of all the ideas you have in your head right now, which one has the potential to make you the most money?

This is the idea you want to focus your complete attention, energy and resources on.

Many other great ideas and opportunities will come your way as you work on bringing your best idea to life, but until that happens, keep a running "Great Idea/Opportunity" list where you can keep a record of these items for future attention.

All of those great ideas and opportunities are useless to you if you can't bring them to full completion within an effective time frame.

With your best idea at the forefront, decide on how to implement a structured plan.  Map your plan into bite-size, manageable pieces and once done, focus your attention on completing the first step.  Only once you have completed that step, move on to the next.

Keep in mind, throughout the process distractions will surround you. When presented with an opportunity, albeit a good one, learn to say 'no' if it takes you away from your primary goal. It's often hard for entrepreneurs to say 'no' but chasing many ideas simultaneously will only put you further and further behind.

So, where do you start today?

Here's a brief guideline to help you along:

1.  Make a list of all the ideas and opportunities on your 'to do' list right now.
2.  Pick the one that will make you the most money and develop a manageable plan to complete it.
3.  When distractions arise, ask yourself, "Will this bring me closer to my goal or take me further away from it?"
4.  If they take you away from your primary goal, learn to say 'no'.

Typing Jobs At Home

The web site is becoming home to the many Data Entry or Type at Home enthusiasts. Why not, where can you make so much and spend so little to get started working at home. It makes perfect sense to me.

As a website owner I offer many home based business ideas, but I quickly noticed that there was great demand to not only become a business owner, but many wanted to simply work from home and make more money.

I noticed this when I was looking at what people were searching for no the Internet. They were looking for phrases like typing jobs at home, typing jobs from home, free typing jobs at home, work at home typing jobs, work from home typing jobs, free work at home typing jobs and home based typing jobs.

The Internet has brings to us both good and bad things, but it really does even the playing field for people like myself who had limited finances to start a business, yet want to build a very successful, profitable business. I can tell you it is a great opportunity.

The first thing I would like to say, where I think many won't, is it takes money to make money. You don't have to spend much. In most cases it's less than a $40 one-time fee, but it is well worth the money for what you get. Can you do it for FREE in some cases? Maybe, but only after you have spend hours upon hours of time finding the companies and then learning how to perform the required task. Why not save yourself both time and money, pay the minimal fee, and use one of the companies that will guide you with step-by-step instructions on how to get up and running fast.

I mention this in all my articles, but The first thing you need to do is to either use a website like mine, but not necessarily mine that has done the research and narrowed the choices down or spend the hours of time yourself.

It's important to begin with companies that match your financial goals, skill sets and comfort level. I try to have companies that compliment each other, because many people like to work more than one program at a time, as the time constraints are minimal. Make sure you get a company with good customer support, Training, overall package and step-by-step guidance on how to succeed in your new endeavor.

There are hundreds of programs that say they will make you wealthy typing at home or doing simple data entry, but only a few in my opinion offer you a real good chance at success. Please remember though that you will have to actually do some work at home. Yes, the time is minimal, but it does take some effort and the discipline to be consistent.

Since you are reading this article you more than likely have the necessary equipment required to work at home. You need a computer , access to the Internet, Printer, Word processor, Spell Check and some free time.

Top At Home Moms Jobs (Dad's Too)

After church service on Sunday I was approached by a young mother interested in working from home opportunities.  Women are turning to the Internet in hopes of increasing their income and getting some of their time back. Many have a family along with a burning desire to stay at home with their children. Others simply want to work from the comfort of their home and get rid of their day job. One thing is for sure women are tired of staying in the same old ball and chain rut of the typical work place.

Some of you want to create additional income, while others want to create a Home Based Business creating multiple income streams on a monthly basis. There are many types of businesses available such as Data Entry, Rebate Processing, Type At Home and Online Paid Surveys.

If you are.....

    * A Stay at Home mom who wants to create additional income.
    * A mom who wants to simply stay at home with her children.
    * A professional women who is sick of the day job mentality.
    * A Semi-Retired women who wants to create additional income.

You can find the opportunities to be successful on the Internet.

In doing my research I found that there are indeed work at home and home based businesses that are tailored for women or stay at home parents. It's important to find work from home opportunities that fit your profile. When I say profile I mean your skill sets, time restraints, comfort level and income objectives. I have found that it is very important to have a good match up in these areas.

Do not simply join the first program promising the moon, as you will more than likely fail. I suggest either using a website like mine, but not necessarily mine, that has done some research or be prepared to spend the hours required doing it yourself. It is very important that you do one or the other, as there are many scam artist waiting for an unsuspecting women looking to start their working from home. Take your time, do your research, narrow down the choice so that you find 2-3 programs that meet your profile, join and start working from home. The other thing I found is that you can get a lot of  free information so that you can make an informed decision.

The costs are minimal as you can probably join 2-3 programs for less than a couple would spend on an evening out. Why do I say 2-3? Well, what I have found is many people like to join 2-3 programs, work them for a while. You can then later focus on the ones that you enjoy the most. The costs are minimal and you will enjoy your work at home lifestyle to the fullest extent.

Give yourself a chance, take the leap and enjoy working from the comfort of your home. Work the hours you want. Be your own BOSS.

The Four Things That Will Set Up A Successful Home Business Office

Starting a home business is a big undertaking. There are key elements to properly set up a home business. If anything is forgotten or left out it could make starting the business difficult or impossible. The following are key elements that every home business owners needs to have in place before actually starting their business.

The Computer System
Every home business owner knows they need a computer. Most home businesses operate the majority of the time on the internet, so a computer is essential. The computer should be as up to date as possible with at least word processing and database programs. Virus protection is also recommended to keep the computer safe and to prevent possible problems. Having a printer is also a good idea so important papers and documents can be printed easily. A scanner may also be appropriate in some cases. All hardware and software should be the latest versions the business owner can afford.

Internet Service
As mentioned, most home businesses operate online, so an internet connection is important. For ultimate speed and reliability a high speed connection is the best choice. High speed connections allow large amounts of data to be uploaded and downloaded quickly. High speed internet connection save time, which means saving money for the time conscious home business owner. If a dial-up connection is the only connection a business owner can get or afford then the fastest one should be chosen (and yes for some strange reason, people still use dial-up).

Phone System
Even though a lot of work may be done online, a phone is still an important business tool. The phone is a great way for a business owner to stay connected with suppliers, customers and employees. If the business owner has a dial-up connection then two phone lines are a must. It is also good for a business owner to have two phone lines irregardless of internet connection so that one can be completely dedicated to the business.

Filing SystemAny business, whether at home or not, needs a filing system to keep track of invoices, payroll records, order records and other important information. A filing cabinet is preferred, but if not at least some boxed filing system should be maintained.

These are the four basic things that are needed to set up a home business office. If any of these things are missing then there could be lost information or inefficiency in how the business works.

Stay At Home Parent Work

Many stay at home parents are looking for good work at home programs whether they are in areas such as Rebate Processing, Online Paid Surveys, Data Entry, Type at Home, Mystery Shopping, Home Based Businesses or Moms Jobs. Almost all work at home programs or home based business programs are a good fit for a stay at home parent. In fact I cannot think of one that would not be.

You can easily see that keywords such as work at home moms, work at home dads, moms jobs and dads jobs being searched for every day. Many of these parents or single parents are looking to supplement their income so they can pay the bills. Others are in hopes of replacing their day job. Many people are turning to the Internet and doing just that. Often times people will learn of someone else who has been very successful working from home while having conversation over the water cooler or perhaps at an outdoor outing of some sort. This will spark the interest and dream of working at home.

It is good to see people doing some preliminary research. It is a lot wiser than just jumping in with both feet. Many think you can join the first program that you see and expect to be successful. You either need to use a web site like mine, but not necessarily mine or be prepared to spend the time to do it yourself. Either way it can be done. Research is the key to success in my opinion. No one can foresee the future, but with research you can give yourself a chance for success.

Many times people will see the ads, join a program, expecting to do nothing and be paid. Programs often are labeled scams when its either someone wanting to get paid for doing nothing or it's simply not a good fit for that person. That's one reason I try to find companies that offer a money back guarantee. This minimizes this problem and gives my visitors some protection. Sometimes when a company gives the person the refund, they still go around to the forums posting that they have been scammed anyway.

The problem with this is many viable programs get labeled as being a scam. There are enough bad programs out there without adding to the group. This is why I always suggest that you either do the research or use a website that has done it already to have a chance for success.

It is important to remember that all viable work at home programs require some work at home. If you see ads whereby they are suggesting that you can get paid for nothing, then I would not join them or simply realize they are just hype, because if it seems to good to be true than it probably is. The good news is that there are plenty of good programs to choose from.
